A series of major highway works are scheduled to take place in Grantham throughout 2024.
Below is a list of the planned works:
Spring 2024
- SKDC’s proposed changes to the Market Place in the town centre
- Reconstruction of sections of High Street, Great Gonerby and Gonerby Road, Grantham
- Construction of a new pedestrian crossing at High Street, Great Gonerby
Summer 2024
- Reconstruction of Dysart Road
- Reconstruction of Alma Park Road
- Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing
- Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing
- SKDC’s proposed changes to Station Road and A52/A607 junction
Aims and benefits
- improved road surfacing resulting in safer and smoother journeys for residents
- improved crossing facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and others not traveling by car
- improved quality of life for residents of Grantham
Cost and funding
The total cost for the roadworks (excluding SKDC’s Market Place and Station Approach works) will cost nearly £4 million and is being funded by us.
Timeline
- March 2024: Public information event held at Jubilee Church Life Centre
- May 2024: SKDC’s changes to the Market Place begin
- May 2024: Great Gonerby road reconstruction and construction of new High Street, Great Gonerby pedestrian crossing begin
- June 2024: Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing begins
- July 2024: Reconstruction of Alma Park Road begins
- July 2024: Dysart Road improvements begins
- August 2024: SKDC’s changes to Station Approach junction begin
- TBC 2025*: Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing for one month
