Grantham Highway improvements

A series of major highway works are scheduled to take place in Grantham throughout 2024.

Below is a list of the planned works:

Spring 2024

  • SKDC’s proposed changes to the Market Place in the town centre
  • Reconstruction of sections of High Street, Great Gonerby and Gonerby Road, Grantham
  • Construction of a new pedestrian crossing at High Street, Great Gonerby

Summer 2024

  • Reconstruction of Dysart Road
  • Reconstruction of Alma Park Road
  • Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing
  • Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing
  • SKDC’s proposed changes to Station Road and A52/A607 junction

Aims and benefits

  • improved road surfacing resulting in safer and smoother journeys for residents
  • improved crossing facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and others not traveling by car
  • improved quality of life for residents of Grantham

Cost and funding

The total cost for the roadworks (excluding SKDC’s Market Place and Station Approach works) will cost nearly £4 million and is being funded by us.

Install traffic signal NAL sockets.

Trim sub-base.

Remove and replace iron works.

Install traffic signal poles and heads to Phases 2 and 3.

Dysart Road

Activity

Dates

Employ temporary traffic lights along Dysart Road at Trent Road and Barrowby Gate in parallel with the one-way closure, to provide safe working space for deeper drainage works. These will move away from Trent Road after the works on Wednesday 13 November once surfacing is completed.

Continue drainage works on north side of Dysart Road, from Yarmouth Avenue to Valley Road..

No night-time road closures on Dysart Road will be required.

TM north side of Dysart for daytime works – closure will remain as westbound.

Northside footway works, including tactile crossings from Yarmouth Avenue to Trent Road.

Footpath surfacing works from Yarmouth Avenue to Barrowby Gate and from Barrowby Gate to Valley Road.
