Apply for a traffic survey equipment licence

Terms and conditions

  • Equipment must NOT be attached to Traditional Road Signs, Concrete or Cast-Iron posts decorative in style (this includes Streetlighting Columns), Streetlighting Columns that have an existing attachment
  • Equipment must be placed in accordance with the manufacturer's guidance and be placed effectively and safely
  • Applicants must comply with all conditions of approval, unless the Highway Authority agrees specific variations with the promoter
  • Traffic survey equipment must not be sited without prior approval
  • Any changes to a formally authorised application must be agreed by the Highway Authority via an application amendment. A new application will be required for significant changes
  • Traffic survey equipment must be removed when no longer required for site operation, within 4 hours of completion of any activity
  • Traffic survey equipment must be removed immediately if requested by us. Should equipment be placed illegally (i.e. without an application or following the expiration of the dates agreed), we reserve the right to remove the equipment and charge a fee for storage and collection

The applicant is responsible for initial arrangements for affected parties such as:

  • affected residents/businesses
  • public transport operators
  • emergency services
  • adjoining highway authorities
  • traffic control centres
