Changes to funded childcare for working parents

Starting from April 2024, the childcare support available for working families will be expanding.

By September 2025, eligible working families with children from nine months old to school age will be entitled to 30 hours of funded childcare.
 
The increased working parent entitlements will be introduced in three phases:

  • from April 2024, working parents of two year olds will be able to access up to 15 hours childcare
  • from September 2024, working parents of nine month olds will be able to access up to 15 hours childcare
  • from September 2025, working parent entitlements will increase up to 30 hours per week from nine months to school age.

Funding would start from the term after your child reaches the age of eligibility:

Date the child reaches eligibility age Entitlement begins
1 January to 31 March Summer term from 1 April
1 April to 31 August Autumn term from 1 September
1 September to 31 December Spring term from 1 January
