Transforming Public Procurement

The Procurement Act 2023

New legislation (effective from 24 February 2025) governing how we work with businesses will:

  • create a simpler, more flexible commercial system
  • open up public procurement to new entrants, ensuring transparency is embedded throughout

What it means for suppliers

The documents we issue for each new opportunity will outline the relevant rules and processes to follow, for the particular contract we are seeking to award. We are making these as simple and clear as possible.

Sign up to bid

Any business interested in supplying goods, works or services across the whole of the public sector, must register on the central digital platform. Follow the links on this page for information on how to do this. It’s free to register and easy to do.

Doing so not only provides access to all future public sector opportunities, it also:

  • simplifies the bidding processes for you
  • means you only have to provide key information once for all your future bids

If you want to know more about the legislation, visit Transforming Public Procurement. This will give you access to videos and guidance tailored for all businesses, including:

  • small and medium enterprises (SME’s)
  • voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSE’s)
