Dear Sir or Madam,
We have previously written your Parish/Town Council inviting you to in-person events to introduce the Central Lincolnshire Design Code which is being prepared. This email is to notify you of the first formal consultation on the design code which is running for 6 weeks from Tuesday 10 September to 22 October 2024.
The Design Code will form an overarching design framework for Central Lincolnshire for new development to follow, underneath which more detailed rules could be prepared for specific areas or sites. These could be prepared by the Local Planning Authority, a developer or local communities through a Neighbourhood Planning Group.
Community engagement is central to the preparation of the Design Code. The Local Plans Team are asking residents, stakeholders and built environment professionals to help develop the Design Code by visiting the dedicated Design Code website and then completing the following surveys:
A map based survey which seeks your views on what is special about where you live or work in Central Lincolnshire. What do you think works well in terms of the design of buildings, streets and spaces? What you think doesn't work so well and how it could be improved in the future? It should take no longer than five minutes to complete and you can submit multiple suggestions.
This survey asks more detailed questions about the content of the Design Code and the key design issues in Central Lincolnshire. This survey is likely to take longer to complete than Survey 1, but no more than 10 to 15 minutes.
As an important member of local communities and representatives of your constituents we would also like to invite your Council to submit formal responses to our surveys.
In addition to completing the surveys we would also request that you help spread the word about the consultation to your local residents and businesses. Your Council has important outreach through your existing communications such as mailing lists and parish newsletters.
We would be very grateful if you could distribute information about this consultation through these networks as appropriate. To assist, we attach:
- an information sheet with details of the surveys and wording that can be included in communication; and
- a poster which can be displayed within your Council’s noticeboard and can also be attached to any emails you send out.

The consultation period runs from Tuesday 10th September to 22nd October 2024, so please do ensure you get your Council’s response in within this time.
