Essential roof replacement for Long Sutton Library

Long Sutton library

From 20 December, the library will be providing a Click and Collect service from the site’s foyer while the main body of the library temporarily closes for essential roof replacement work.

Long Sutton Library will fully close for two weeks from Monday 6 December to allow for scaffolding to be erected at the building’s entrance and for the Click and Collect service to be put in place.

Loan dates will be extended during this period so that no one need worry about their items going overdue.

The Click and Collect service in the foyer will then be available from Monday 20 December.

This will allow for the return of items and collection of items reserved via the library service’s online catalogue.

Staff will also be able to reserve items on customers’ behalf and will provide ‘grab bags’ of popular stock so that those without a particular title in mind can still access fresh reading material.

While no public computers will be accessible during this time, library staff will be providing a printing and photocopying service.

Work to replace the roof will continue into 2022 with the library’s main body reopening in late May.

Cllr Lindsey Cawrey, executive councillor for culture at Lincolnshire County Council, said:

"We're investing in the library building to protect it for years to come. Sadly, this means that there will be some inconvenience while the work is going on, but we have put measures in place to make sure residents can still access many of the library’s services, including through our Click and Collect service.

"While the work is being carried out, I would also encourage customers to explore the extensive online library service, which includes free access to thousands of e-books, audiobooks, e-magazines and e-newspapers.”
