Scheduled maintenance works to the road's surface will start on Tuesday 29 October.
The works are expected to last for four evenings (subject to reasonable weather) and will be carried out under night-time road closures from 7pm to 6am.
The first phase of work will take place for two evenings on the A17 Algarkirk, between Sutterton Roundbout and Washdike Road, starting on Tuesday 29 October.
Once work on the A17 Algarkirk is complete, the maintenance crew will move to the A17 Saracen's Head from Thursday 31 October for two evenings.
Work on the A17 Saracen's Head will take place between Saltney Gate and Manor House Road.
The diversion route for the closures will be via the A16 to A151 to A17, and vice versa.
Local access to residents and businesses within the extent of the works will be maintained as far as reasonably practicable each evening.
Karen Cassar, Assistant Director – Highways, said: "These works are essential in maintaining the longevity of the A17 and to ensure it continues to offer road users safer and more comfortable journeys.
“Due to the nature of the works, there will inevitably be some temporary disruption, however we'll be doing everything we can to reduce this – for example, planning all of the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption to people traveling during the day.
"We ask for your continued patience while these works are carried out."
