A52 Roman Bank update – Work starts to refurbish Sea View Road pedestrian crossing

Roman Bank November update

Work on Phase 2 - from 143 to 161 Roman Bank has gone well, with further works on Phase 3 - from 161 Roman Bank to the Co-op access - to continue through November.

What we achieved in October

Phase 2 – from 143 to 161 Roman Bank

  • Installed 70m of new storm drainage
  • Installed and connected 10 new road gullies
  • Removed 170m of old kerbs and replaced with new kerbs and drainage kerbs
  • Approximately 800 tonnes of new asphalt laid to form the initial layers of the new road
  • 170m of footpath resurfaced and re-opened
  • Removed old pedestrian crossing traffic signals, ready for upgraded crossing to be constructed
  • Located and lowered 15 unmarked/unrecorded water and gas feeds and removed 15 defunct feeds, alongside Anglian Water and Cadent Gas

What's happening in November

Phase 3 – from 161 Roman Bank to the Co-op access

  • Remove and replace asphalt, failing footpath and kerbs
  • Construct redesigned pedestrian crossing at junction of Sea View Road
  • Continue installation of new mainline drainage and new storm gullies
  • Continue to locate and safely lower unmarked/unrecorded utility feeds and record for future works

Current/Ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Full road closure between 161 Roman Bank to the Co-op access

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Full road closure between Co-op access and 182 Roman Bank

Please note that pedestrian access will be maintained for residents and businesses, except when works are being carried directly outside a property (exact location will change as the scheme progresses). Those affected will be notified in advance and are encouraged to speak to the site team to discuss any accommodations that can be made.

Private and on-street parking within the immediate area of works will also be restricted. However, restrictions on two 'limited-time' parking zones on Sea View Road, between the junction with Hoylake Drive and the junction with Roman Bank, will be suspended during the project to provide alternative parking.
