An extra care housing scheme in Nettleham has been given the go ahead, designed to enable older people with increasing care needs to continue living independently in their own homes.
"This is another vital facility with a growing number of older aged people and vulnerable adults in the county, providing accommodation for those who want to remain living independently but also have the option of on-site care", said Councillor Mrs Patricia Bradwell, Executive Councillor for Adult Care.
"It means we can reinvest in preventative care, stopping people from falling ill, whilst promoting wellbeing and independence."
The council's Executive today agreed a £2m funding contribution towards the scheme. Working in partnership with Lace Housing Association, 43 units will be developed at the former Linelands building in Nettleham, with the county council using 20 of these units to provide accommodation to residents who have additional care needs.
"This follows the 70 apartment Extra Care housing scheme at De Wint Court in Lincoln we have started in partnership with the City of Lincoln Council", added Councillor Mrs Bradwell. "We'll be following up with other similar projects around the county."
"We've allocated nearly £12m funding to develop Extra Care housing in the county which enhances quality of life and allows people to stay in their local communities and access services close to home."
Construction on the Nettleham scheme will start in spring 2021.
