Works to replace the worn out carriageway on Campus Way ramp and bridge joints on Brayford Way Bridge in Lincoln will start on Wednesday 8 July.
The project is expected to last for up to eight evenings, Monday to Friday, subject to suitable weather.
Cllr Richard Davies, Executive Member for highways, said: "These works were originally set to start and end in April, but concerns around staffing levels and safe working due to coronavirus led to them being pushed back to this summer.
"The important thing is that we've got a new start date and will be carrying out the scheme next month.
"Not only will we be rebuilding the Campus Way ramp down to the mini-roundabout, but we'll also be taking the opportunity to replace two of Brayford Way bridge's joints while we're on site.
"We know this bridge is one Lincoln's most used routes, so we'll be doing everything we can to keep disruption to an absolute minimum. This includes carrying all of the works out overnight so the bridge remains open during the day."
A full closure Brayford Way bridge and the Campus Way ramp will be in place from 8pm to 6am each weekday.
The diversion route for northbound traffic at the University Roundabout is via Ropewalk / East-West Link Road / Cross Street / Portland Street / Pelham Bridge / Wigford Way / Newland / Carholme junction.
The diversion route for southbound traffic at the Carholme junction is via Newland / Wigford Way / Pelham Bridge / Kesteven Street / East-West Link Road / University Roundabout.
Access to Campus Way via Brayford Way Bridge will be maintained as far as reasonably practicable. However, during certain works this won't be possible.
In addition, Campus Way residents are encouraged to find alternative parking locations to avoid problems getting vehicles in and out of the works zone after 7pm.
