Virgin Media O2 is the latest company to sign up to LCC’s Street Works Charter in the latest move to make life better for Lincolnshire’s road traffic network.

The broadband supplier has joined the Charter designed to cut the amount of disruption roadworks cause across Lincolnshire.

The Charter was launched last year in a bid to cut down both the amount of time a road is closed, and the number of times different utility companies carry out work in the same spot. 10 utility companies have already signed up to the charter with Virgin Media O2 being the eleventh.

Nigel Myers, Senior Statutory and Streetworks Policy Manager said: "Virgin Media O2, Lincolnshire County Council and industry colleagues share a commitment to reducing the potential disruption that can occur when carrying out street works and during vital infrastructure projects, to provide access to Virgin Media O2’s high-speed broadband services.

“This charter signifies our joint intention and collaboration to deliver essential street works efficiently and with minimum impact on the lives of the residents of Lincolnshire."

Ashley Behan, Street works and permitting manager for LCC added: “As one of the largest broadband providers in the UK, we’re delighted that Virgin Media O2 has joined our Street Works Charter. Them signing up is a very positive continuation of our efforts to actively reduce traffic disruption in the county.

“People travelling in our county will see all the organisations that carry out roadworks in Lincolnshire focus on working together and completing roadworks in less time.”

Leader of Lincolnshire County Council, Martin Hill said: “The Street Works Charter has been designed so that we all carry out a more joined-up way of planning and working together.

“We’ve worked at improved relationships with utility companies and smarter working around these works and have seen improvement. The Charter is there to help bring us all together.”
