A16 Pinchbeck Roundabout March update

An overview of progress on the Pinchbeck Roundabout improvement project.

What we achieved in February

  • Completed laying binder course and glass grid on A16 from Vernatt’s bridge to Springfield Roundabout
  • Completed laying hot-rolled asphalt surface course on A16 from Vernatt’s bridge to Springfield Roundabout
  • Completed laying base and binder courses in Pinchbeck Roundabout 
  • Cleared the old site compound
  • Started installing vehicle restraint system at Pinchbeck Roundabout 
  • Site clearance / topsoil strip / earthworks along active travel zone footpath near Springfield shopping centre

What’s happening in March

  • Laying hot-rolled asphalt surface course 
  • Road-making and CKD/gullies cleaning along A16 
  • Install asphalt plug/mechanical and buried joints along A16, from Pinchbeck Roundabout to Springfield Roundabout
  • Install the remaining vehicle restraint system infrastructure / install fencing / lay road markings / begin landscaping at Pinchbeck Roundabout

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Ongoing narrowed lanes on A16 in the roundabout and all its approaches
  • Ongoing night-time closure of the roundabout, all its legs and sections of the A16 until the end of March, weekday evenings only, 8pm to 6am (subject to weather)
  • Footpath closure from the A151 (adjacent to Coronation Channel) as and when required
  • Temporary closure of the northern footway on A151 Holbeach Road as needed
  • The diversion route for pedestrians will be on the opposite side of carriageway

Upcoming traffic restrictions 

  • Off-peak hours lane closures and cycle lane suspension at Springfield Roundabout (dates to be confirmed)
