What we achieved in November
Phase 3 – Harlaxton Road/Sankt Augustin Way traffic island and footway
- Removed pedestrian guard rail and signposts
- Removed existing paving from footway
- Removed existing bituminous material, tactiles, edgings and kerbs from island
- Installed sockets for new signal and sign posts
- Trimmed sub base; removed, replaced and reset ironworks; and installed traffic signal ducting
- Installed new kerbs
- Installed tactile paving to island and footway
- Installed binder to footways
- Installed finish concrete to islands
- Installed traffic signal posts
Phase 4 – Westgate/Sankt Augustin Way traffic island and footway
- Removed existing guard railing
- Removed existing bituminous material, tactiles, edgings and kerbs from island
- Removed existing paving and tactiles from footway
- Installed traffic signal sockets
- Installed new kerbs
- Trimmed sub base; removed, replaced and reset ironworks; and installed traffic signal ducting
- Installed tactile paving to island and footway
- Installed binder to footways
- Installed finish concrete to islands
Phase 5 – Resurfacing works to junction
- Planed out existing carriageway materials
- Installed base and binder courses
What’s happening in December
Phase 5 – Resurfacing works
- Installation of surface course, white lining, traffic signal loops and material testing
Throughout the project site
- Carry out any necessary remedial works
- Demobilise from site
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Mid-November to end of November – closure of slip road off Westgate to Sankt Augustin Way
- Traffic from Westgate diverted via Wharf Road, High Street, Watergate and Barrowby Road onto Sankt Augustin Way
- Ongoing to mid-December – full night-time closure of the Station Approach junction from 7pm-6am, weekdays only
- All islands at the junction coned off, with pedestrian diversions in place
- Closure of the right-hand lane from Westgate into Sankt Augustin Way
