Hoddins Way business park in south Lincolnshire now has 100% occupancy with the arrival of an independent vet at the site.
The site at Long Sutton has been open for 10 years, but this is the first time since it opened that every unit has been occupied and all the businesses are doing well.
Katherine Cox, portfolio officer at the county council, explained: “Independent vets are quite rare these days, but The Independent Vet Clinic Ltd opened in May and has been incredibly popular with the local community. The site is like a little village in itself and visitors to one business will often browse in the other shops or visit the café. We’re delighted that this new addition offers so much to the site and to residents.”
The Hoddins Way site was previously known as ‘CaNeBuZo’ and was an early adopter of sustainable development. It’s a unique development of seven self-contained, earth sheltered units. All contain toilet facilities, kitchen and store areas, with under floor heating and PV solar panels.
Cllr Colin Davie, executive councillor for economy and environment at the county council, said:
“Although buildings with solar panels and environmentally friendly credentials are commonplace now, the Hoddins Way business centre was unusual when we first built it.
“We’ve had lots of tenants over the years who have taken advantage of our short-term leases on easy in, easy out terms, which give start-up businesses flexibility and means they can manage cash flow more easily.
“We keep rents reasonable, and the location just off the A17 gives easy access to both Spalding and Kings Lynn. I’m pleased to see that the site now has established and thriving small businesses and is a great asset for the community.”
Hetty and Adrian Hayes from The Independent Vet Clinic Ltd, said:
“It’s fantastic that Lincolnshire County Council have the ability to offer this type of eco-friendly building to support small businesses and provide important services to local communities.
“On 1st May we opened our independent, family owned, small animal clinic. We have welcomed many lovely clients with their pets in the following months. Our team has grown with an additional nurse in September. Apart from routine consultations we also offer dental treatments, routine and some non-routine surgeries, x-rays, blood testing and other lab work.
“We are the only practice in the area to offer worm counts, acupuncture and vaccicheck testing to see if you dog needs to be vaccinated against parvovirus, distemper or hepatitis.”
Other businesses on site include:
- Jello Nails, Beauty & Holistics
- House of ENB (offering all sorts of treatments.)
- Dollywood Hair & Beauty
- Razzle Dazzle Vintage Shop
- Al’s Barbershop
- Unicorn Diner
