Major improvements to Newland and the eastern end of Carholme Road have come to a successful end.
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "We’re now officially finished with our improvements to Newland and the eastern end of Carholme Road in Lincoln.
“Since starting the project this spring, the team’s spent over 30,000 hours on the project and has laid over 4,500 tonnes of road-building materials.
“While on-site, we also repaired 275 metres of highways drainage and installed a total of thirty new traffic signals at the Lucy Tower Street/Newland and Carholme Road/Brayford Way junctions.
“Now that the works are finished, our focus will be on planning improvements to the western end of Carholme Road, which we’re planning to start next year.
"Exact dates and details are still being worked out, but we will most definitely share more information about these works closer to the time.
“In the meantime, I want to thank all of Lincoln for bearing with us throughout the works."
Below are some facts and figures about the project:
• Over a mile of new footway constructed
• Three quarters of a mile of new kerbing laid
• 575 feet of traffic signal wires and traffic signal ducting installed
Cllr Neil Murray, county councillor for Carholme, said: “The work the county council’s highways team has completed at Newland and Carholme Road looks fantastic. I think all would agree that it’s a huge improvement to the state of the road prior to these works.
“This project required a significant level of traffic management, so I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their patience while the works were underway.”
