A series of night-time road closures will be in place on Dysart Road starting in early October.
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “Starting in early October, we’ll have reached the stage of our Dysart Road improvements where we’re ready to start laying the new road surfacing to the eastern end of site – near the junction with Sankt Augustin Way.
“And then, starting early November, we’ll make a start surfacing the western end of site between Trent Road and the A1 overbridge.
“We’ll be using over 8,000 tonnes of road building materials which will require us to close off the areas where we’re working so the material can be safely laid and left to cure overnight.”
Dates and timeframes
- Phase 1: Friday 4 October for one month, weekday evenings only (except for the weekends of 5th - 6th October and 12th - 13th October where works will be carried out on Saturday evenings)
- Phase 2: Tuesday 5 November for two weeks, weekday evenings only
Location of works
- Phase 1: Between Dysart Road railway bridge and Trent Road
- Phase 2: From Trent Road to Low Road (just west of the A1 overbridge)

Night-time road closures from 7pm to 6am (access to the gym and bowling alley will be maintained until 10pm)
The current 24/7 westbound closure on Dysart Road will remain in place until the end of the project.
Diversion routes
Phase 1: The diversion route for standard vehicles lower than 4.5 metres in height will be via Sankt Augustin Way / Westgate / Harlaxton Road / Swingbridge Road / Trent Road, and vice versa.
Phase 1: The diversion route for vehicles taller than 4.5m in height will be via Sankt Augustin Way / A52 (South) / London Road / B1174 South Parade / Tollemache Road North / A52 / A1 / A607 Harlaxton / Swingbridge Road / Trent Road, and vice versa
Phase 2: The diversion route for all vehicles will be via Low Road / A52 / A1 (South) / A607 Harlaxton Road / Swingbridge Road / Trent Road, and vice versa
Cllr Davies added: “We’ll be working as efficiently as possible to ensure the closures aren’t in place any longer than they need to be. We’ll also be maintaining access to the gym and bowling alley up to 10pm and will be keeping noise levels down after 10pm.
“I want to thank everyone for patience during these closures, as I know they’ll cause some disruption.”
Please note that night-time road closures for the Station Approach works that are currently underway will start on Friday 22 November, once the Dysart Road surfacing works are complete.
Further details (including specific dates, locations and diversion routes) about the Station Approach works will be shared closer to the time.
