The latest update on the A16 Springfield Roundabout.
What we achieved in August
- Completed earthworks and drainage in the roundabout centre and the northeast
- Started excavation of the new road foundation along the A151 East (outside McDonalds)
- Completed kerbing in the roundabout centre and on the north, south and west splitter islands
- Completed low voltage power diversion and the BT diversion in the northeast corner
What’s happening in September
- Start and finish new kerbs in the roundabout centre
- Seeding of topsoiled verges will commence site wide
- Install boundary fencing to the southeast and southwest corners of the scheme
- Begin final road surfacing for the roundabout
- Continue installing scheme signs site-wide and lighting columns to A151 East
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- 24/7 barriers at the roundabout, with the current single-lane entries and single-lane exits
- Ongoing narrowed roundabout lanes
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- Night-time temporary traffic lights as needed for installation of scheme signs and lighting columns
- Night-time closures for final surfacing starting in late September (dates to be confirmed)
