What we achieved in August
- Started works on Monday 19 August
- Decommissioned permanent traffic signals and installed temporary signals
- Installed traffic management, including closing the slip road from Westgate to Wharf Road
- Removed traffic signal poles from main traffic island
- Excavation of main traffic island
- Removed pedestrian guardrails from island
What’s happening in September
Phase 1 – Westgate/Wharf Road traffic island and surrounds
- Install traffic signal ducting to new traffic signal locations
- Install new kerbing
- Trim sub-base
- Install tactile paving
- Install sign posts and bollards
- Remove, replace and reset ironworks to island
- Clean Westgate/Wharf Road footway
- Lay new binder and surface courses
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Ongoing until late September – lane closures on Westgate, closing off the A52 slip road off Westgate onto Wharf Road, and reducing Wharf Road to one lane for Sankt Augustin Way and Harlaxton Road
- Diversion route via Sankt Augustin Way and B1174.
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- Late September to mid-October – full closure of Station Road West from the private car park south of the residential dwellings to the junction.
- Access to premises will be maintained.
- There will be no access to Grantham Railway Station from Westgate or Wharf Road.
- Diversion route via Wharf Road / London Road / Station Road East, and vice versa.
