Barlings bridge works announced

The diversion route for the works.

Essential scheme will mean years more life for the structure.

Karen Cassar, assistant director of highways at LCC said: “Our crew will be carrying out a range of work on the bridge, with the result stopping potential issues happening in the future.

“Because of the nature of the work involved, we will need to put a diversion in place for the safety of road users and the crew. Using like-for-like roads will ensure traffic flow in the area can continue.”

Location of works

The works will be carried out at Barlings Beck Bridge, C233 Stainton Lane.

Dates and times

The programme begins on Monday, 14 October with a duration of up to six weeks. A full road closure will be in place for the works. Onsite work hours are from Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:00, subject to suitable weather.

Traffic management

A road closure is required for the duration of the works.

Diversion route

The signed diversion route will be; Stainton Lane to Stainton level crossing, Wickenby Road, Snelland Road, Lissington Road, B1202 Wragby Road, Market Rasen Road, B1399 Lincoln Road, A158 Wragby Road and vice versa.

Karen Cassar added: “These works will cost in the region of £90k to complete and include several factors including re-waterproofing, replacing expansion joints, resurfacing, re-kerbing and some additional maintenance of the bridge deck itself.

“When that’s complete, the work will have stopped a sub-surface leak through the bridge joints that our inspectors identified. By carrying out this work now, we can get ahead of any future problems and ensure that the bridge will be in good order for many years to come.

“We will complete this programme as quickly as possible, but there will be some unavoidable traffic disruption with these bridge works. I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding while we deliver this essential maintenance.”
