Additional traffic management has been put in place to ensure the safety of road users and the project’s workforce.
The following additional traffic management measures have been put in place for the Dysart Road improvement works, which will be underway until December.
Access blocked at Dysart Road / Sankt Augustin Way junction
Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: “Main construction works at Dysart Road started as planned yesterday, with the 24/7 westbound closure in place.
“Unfortunately, a large number of vehicles attempted to access westbound Dysart Road when traveling north from Sankt Augustin Way so we’ve had to block off this area to ensure the safety of road users and our workforce.
“As a result, those wanting to travel across the A52 on Dysart Road towards Westgate will no longer be able to do this. They will instead have to turn left onto Sankt Augustin Way and head north to Barrowby Road roundabout. From there, they can turn around to follow their intended route.
“I know this is additional piece of traffic management is inconvenient, but it’s essential to ensure no vehicles turn onto the closed portion of Dysart Road.”
New diversion route for HGVs and vehicles taller than 4.5m
Karen Cassar added: “We also encountered some issues with HGVs taller than 4.5m following our diversion route and not being able to fit under the low bridge at Harlaxton Road.
“As a result, we’ve now signposted a separate diversion route for HGVs and other vehicles taller than 4.5 metres.”
The diversion route for HGVs and other vehicles taller than 4.5m will be to turn left off of Dysart Road onto Sankt Augustin Way, double-back on the Barrowby Road roundabout to the A52 / B1174 / Tollemache Road North / A1/ A607 / Harlaxton Road / Swingbridge Road / Trent Road / Dysart Road.
Please note that the diversion route for standard vehicles smaller than 4.5 metres remains via Harlaxton Road / Swingbridge Road / Trent Road.
