Lincolnshire County Council is working in partnership with LACE Housing, West Lindsey District Council and Homes England to deliver an extra care housing scheme in Welton for the over 55s.
Councillor Wendy Bowkett, Executive Councillor for Adult Care and Public Health, said: “We want to maximise independence and improve the health of Lincolnshire residents by providing more housing choice for the over 55s, with access to the care and support required to remain self-sufficient within their local communities.
“Construction started on this scheme at Diamond Place in Welton in March 2023 and is expected to be completed by January 2025, with tenants able to move in from February.
“The new development will feature 62 one-bedroom apartments and 10 bungalows available for shared ownership. It will feature on-site care staff, plus restaurant and communal facilities and is located within easy reach of village amenities including shops, the doctor’s surgery, and with good access to public transport.”
“We welcome expressions of interest from local people who think they could benefit from living within this superb accommodation. We’re excited in bringing another option of extra care accommodation for older people to Lincolnshire. In partnership with housing associations, district councils and Home England, the county council has an established capital programme which has committed £12.071 million to support the development of Extra Care Housing and Supported Living across Lincolnshire, to respond to the demographic challenges of an increasing ageing and diverse society.
