Night-time works for new road surface

A road closed sign

Market Rasen road will be better to drive on.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for Highways said: “The current B1202 is a worn road that is in need of a new surface, and we can now get the scheme underway and in place.

“This programme will seal the road surface, give it many more years of life and improve the quality of the drive for those travelling on it.

“It means a big improvement for the area and will be a real uplift for those that use the route.”

Location of works

The works will be carried out on the B1202 Oxford Street / Linwood Road in Market Rasen.

Dates and times

The works will begin on Thursday 8 August until Sunday 18 August, subject to suitable weather. On-site work hours will be from 22.00 to 06.00. These are night-time works only and no weekend works are planned.

A road closure is required for the works during on-site work times only.

However, both the road closure and diversion route will be removed after each shirt to allow through traffic to use the B1202. By doing this we will dramatically reduce traffic disruption in the area for the local road network.

Note: A restriction of ‘No Parking’ will be in place on Oxford Street/Linwood Road within the working area, during dates/working times given.

Diversion route

The signed diversion route will be; A631, B1225, A157, A158, B1202 and vice versa.

Karen Cassar added: “These are not small improvements to bring to the B1202 and will cost around £266,000 to put in place.

“With the sheer scale of the work involved across the night-time shifts, we cannot leave the road open because of the potential danger to road users and the crew alike. So, the road will be closed during the hours of 22.00 to 06.00.

“But what we have been able to do is work into the plan a programme where we can lift the road signs and diversion at the end of each shift meaning that, for the majority of road users in the area, they will be able to go about their business as usual.

“By doing this we can seriously reduce the amount of disruption to the local road network, and I would like to add my thanks to anyone effected by this scheme for their patience and understanding while we get this improvement in place.”
