The A46 is getting a £250,000 improvement to make it better to drive on.
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “We are able to get a set of seven overnight works completed on the busy route which will not only improve the surface, but also means that we will have many years of life left in the road, too.
“The works will also seal the surface which improves the road itself and helps to prevent potholes forming.”
Locations of works
The works will be carried out at: A46, Lincoln westbound dual carriageway between A15, Riseholme Roundabout and the A57, Carholme Road.
Dates and times
The programme of work is:
- Friday, July 12 – 20.00 to 06.00 (Road stud removal)
- Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14 – 20.00 to 11.00 (Road stud removal and surface dressing)
- Sunday, July 14 – 20.00 to 06.00 (First sweep to remove loose material)
- Sunday, July 21 to Tuesday, July 23 – 20.00 to 06.00 (Second sweep and road marking plus road stud installation)
Traffic management
A road closure is required for the duration of the works during stated work hours only.
Diversion route
The signed diversion route will be: Riseholme Road, Yarborough Crescent, Yarborough Road, The Avenue and Carholme Road and vice versa.
Cllr Davies added: “Because of location and the scale of this set of works, a diversion route will need to be in place during on-site work hours for the safety of road users and the works crew alike. At the end of each shift, we will lift the diversion and take down the signage to leave the A46 open as usual for the majority of the day. We will be using like-for-like roads on the alternative route to enable traffic to continue without hold-ups.
“Although this is a large area to surface dress in a relatively short time, we will continue to do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum on this route, as we do with every improvement we install across the county.
“I’d like to particularly thank everyone effected by this set of works for their patience and understanding whilst we deliver the overnight programme on this section of the A46.”
