Footpath rebuild and better drains for Caistor

Map of footpath rebuild location

Improving road surface water drainage and rebuilding a footpath are happening later in July.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for Highways said: “This programme of works is able to go ahead from July 22 and means that we can not only focus on rebuilding a footpath that is in need of repair, but also improve the drainage at the side of the road.

“And, while we have the equipment in place and the crew on site, then we will also repair and replace kerbing where necessary along the route.

“Overall, this section of the road will be able to deal with surface water better and the footpath will be much improved for those that use it.”

Location of works

The works will be carried out at the A1084 Brigg Road, Caistor.

Dates and times

The works will begin on Monday, July 22 and are scheduled to end on Friday, August 30, subject to suitable weather.

Traffic management

A road closure is required for the duration of the works.

Diversion route

The signed diversion route will be; A1084, A1173, A18, A1084 and vice versa.

Karen Cassar added: “This existing footpath work will also widen the current path for better access and pedestrian mobility.

“This programme of work will cost around £165,000 to deliver and will see a marked difference to the area.

“There will be some natural disruption while the work is carried out. This is unavoidable because of the nature of the works and the diversion route using like-for-like roads is necessary to ensure the safety of road users and the work crew alike.

“We will try to get the programme completed as quickly as possible and I’d like to thank everyone affected by these improvement works for their patience and understanding while we get this job finished.”
