Update: Friday 16 August

Temporary traffic signals in the day will no longer be required.

Update: Thursday 8 August

Please note that, as part of the works below, temporary two-way traffic signals will be in place on the A15 Main Road in Thurlby starting Monday 12 August for up to five days, 6am to 7pm.

Night-time road closures will also be in place from 7pm to 6am for five evenings as planned.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: “Following on from our crossing construction works that started on Monday 8 July, we’re now set to carry out final surfacing at this new crossing. This will be carried out under a series of overnight road closures next week. However, to ensure that the deep surfacing on the A15 can fully and properly set, the contractor has suggested using temporary two-way traffic signals in the day to ensure no vehicles drive over it.

“By allowing the new surfacing to fully set, the road will last longer and be much stronger – meaning we shouldn’t have to carry out resurfacing for at least ten years.

“The downside of the daytime signals is that drivers will likely experience some significant delays next week on the A15, so we encourage anyone that drives this stretch of road to leave extra time for their journeys or to consider alternative routes.”

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: “This project, which will take up to five weeks to complete, will see six new traffic signal heads installed, along with new tactile paving and road surfacing.

“Like any major roadworks, there will be some minor disruption while we build the new crossing – but our team will focus on getting the project finished as soon as possible.”
