The latest update on Grantham Market Place.
What we achieved in May
- Set-up / installed traffic management
- Completed initial site safety surveys
- Removed all granite channel setts
- Removed all Yorkstone setts from loading bays and the two tabletop ramps (the third ramp has been left untouched to maintain access)
- Cold milling completed on the carriageway removing to formation level
- Stone cobbles uncovered at the Market Cross side of the junction up towards the High Street
- Prepared all road gullies for rebuilding
What’s happening in June
- Install new road gullies and drainage
- Rebuild all existing road gullies to finished level
- Trimming of surrounding areas and around utilities before providing raft protection
- Installation of lower layer road surfacing (known as base and binder)
- Begin paving works
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Full road closure of the Market Place and a soft closure on Conduit Lane (access maintained for taxi rank)
- 24/7 barriers around the whole Market Place (all pedestrian areas are accessible)
- Access maintained to the temporary parking area outside Gravity
- Access maintained to the footway outside the Conduit Lane Tearooms and the Reflect Recruitment Offices
