Additional surfacing works required for Spalding Road roundabout

Road surfacing will be re-laid this June.

The works will start on Monday 17 June for up to two weeks (subject to weather)

The repairs will be carried out under night-time road closures of the roundabout and the Enterprise Way junction from 8pm to 6am (weekday evenings only).

Karen Cassar, Assistant Director – Highways, said: "Since opening the new roundabout last year, our standard inspection process has flagged up the that the top layer of road surfacing doesn’t meet the stringent requirements and high standard we laid out in our design.

“Because issues like this could lead to the carriageway not lasting as long as it should, the project contractor will be removing and re-laying the surfacing at their own cost as part of our contract with them.

“Although these works will cause some disruption, carrying them out now will save us money and time in the future.

“In the meantime, I want to thank everyone in advance for bearing with us.”
