The project will be discussed by the county council’s Planning and Regulation Committee this month.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “It’s great news that the officer recommendation for granting planning approval the North Hykeham Relief Road is a positive one.

“However, although this is a step in the right direction for the project, it does not mean we’ve been given the all clear. The county council’s Planning and Regulation Committee now need to review the officer paper and discuss the scheme before voting on whether to grant planning consent.”

The county council’s Planning and Regulation committee will discuss and vote on the North Hykeham Relief Road’s planning application during its scheduled meeting on Monday 13 May.

Cllr Davies added: “If planning permission is granted, the project team will be able to formally enter into negotiations with landowners for the land we need to build the North Hykeham Relief Road. From there, legal orders would be prepared and finalised, before being put in front of our highways scrutiny committee and Executive for final review.”
