Vegetation clearance, archaeology and other preliminary works will take place in February ahead of breaking ground on phase three this spring.
What we achieved in January
- Laid stone and road surfacing to the widened section of the A1
- Continue earthworks for eastern on/off slip roads for new road
- Carried out surfacing works and removal of barriers on the A1
What's happening in February
- Commence construction of a working platform and wall guide to increase accuracy of piling works for new bridged junction
- Construct permanent soakaway ditches and repair internal haul roads damaged by severe weather over recent months
- Install barriers and paint white lining to the widened section of the A1 ahead traffic switchover
- Open the new, widened section of the A1 to traffic as part of traffic switchover, which will allow for works to the first of the new bridged junction
- Begin vegetation clearance and carry out final archaeological works for Phase Three
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- Temporary diversion of the A1's northbound lanes, between Harlaxton and Little Ponton, to a new section of A1 carriageway from w/c 3 February for seven months
- Full night-time closure on the southbound A1, between Harlaxton to Little Ponton, on the evenings of Saturday 1, Sunday 2 and Monday 3 February January from 8pm to 6am
- Diversion route via A607 at Harlaxton to A606 to A1 at Stamford
- Full night-time lane closure on the northbound A1 between Harlaxton to Little Ponton on the evenings of Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6, from 8pm to 6am
- Diversion route via A606 at Stamford to A607 to A1 at Harlaxton
Lane closures on the opposite side of the carriageway may also be in affect during the night-time closures listed above.
