A special event at Lincoln Museum will showcase a series of short films on internet safety created by local school pupils.
To mark this year’s Safer Internet Day, the county council’s community safety team has run a short film competition for schools, with students invited to create An Alien’s Guide to Navigating the Internet. The winning entries will be premiered at Lincoln Museum on Tuesday 6 February.
The winning schools were:
- Castle Wood Academy, Gainsborough – first place
- Witham St Hughs Academy, Lincoln – second place
- St George’s C of E Primary School, Stamford – third place
Kathryn Smith, community safety strategy coordinator, said: “This year, the theme for Safer Internet Day is inspiring change online. To help children, young people and adults navigate the digital world better, we challenged Lincolnshire students to create, film and edit an alien’s guide to online behaviour. How should we talk to others? What’s ok to post? What’s not safe? What should you do if it all goes wrong? We were really impressed by what the students came up with, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere their hard work at Lincoln Museum to celebrate.”
