Join us for a cosy evening of wellness workshops and relaxation celebrating the Winter Solstice on Thursday 21 December at Lincoln Museum.

The Winter Solstice – or shortest day of the year – marks the point after which the days begin to get longer again in the northern hemisphere. The day has been celebrated by different cultures around the world for many thousands of years.

As the sun sets on the shortest day this year, the museum will open its doors and invite visitors to experience an evening of wellness activities to light up the night.

“Due to the sun’s importance for providing warmth, light, and growing food, the Winter Solstice has given rise to many feast days, festivals and rituals in different cultures around the world.

“Even today with electric lighting and heating, the days getting longer is a cause for celebration, and this event is the perfect way to mark the occasion with our selection of relaxing activities that will help see you through the longest night.”

Lincoln Museum and the Usher Gallery are both on Danes Terrace in Lincoln and are open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 4pm.
