Culvert works underway in New Year

Culvert works underway in New Year - road closure and diversion route

Scheme will stop an under-road culvert from collapsing

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "This is a case of works happening to prevent the possibility of an ageing, existing brick culvert collapsing underneath a road.

“Our programme of work will see the culvert fully removed and replaced with a specialist pipe encased in concrete.”

LOCATION OF WORKS

The works will be carried out on Station Road in Eagle Hall, 0.6 miles (1 km) north of Swinderby Station, between Swinderby Station and Eagle Hall.

DATES AND TIMES

The works will begin on Tuesday, January 2 and have a planned completion date of Friday, January 26, subject to suitable weather. Working times are from 07.30 to 16.00 Monday to Friday, no weekend working is planned.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

A full diversion will be in place from Tuesday, January 2.

DIVERSION ROUTE

The diversion route will be: Station Road, Eagle Hall, Swinderby Road, Eagle, Thorpe Lane, Eagle Lane, Station Road, Lincoln Lane, Middle Lane, Hykeham Roundabout, A46, Halfway House Roundabout, Halfway House Lane, Moor Lane, Station Road and vice versa.

Cllr Davies added: "The road around the culvert will have to be excavated to its full width. Our programme will also include measures by Anglian Water to divert the fragile watermain which is located next to where the works are going to happen, otherwise it will be damaged in the process.

“There is no way to do these essential works without closing the road and putting a temporary diversion in place. We will do everything that we can to carry out the scheduled programme as quickly as we can, and I’d like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding while we get this improvement carried out.”
