Latest updates on the A16 Levelling Up Fund improvements.
What we achieved in October
- Constructed small satellite compound at Springfields Roundabout and started construction of main site compound at the A16/B1180 Greencell Roundabout
- Removed traffic islands and replaced with new bituminous carriageway to create space for the travelling public and complete the rest of the project
- Constructed road crossing for new street lighting cables
- Disconnected street lighting and signs and installed temporary lighting
- Stripped topsoil, began installation of new drainage pipes and filling ditches with new material
What’s happening in November
- Lay new carriageway foundation
- Continue drainage installation and begin headwall installation
- Continue filling ditches with new material
- Begin diversion of National Grid 33KV cables
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- 24/7 barriers at the roundabout, with the current two-lane entries and single-lane exits maintained through the Christmas period
