A rare opportunity to find out if you’ve got what it takes to be a firefighter comes to Sleaford this month.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue hold ‘Have a Go’ days during the year, usually held at the service’s training facility in Waddington near Lincoln. However for the first time, one of these practical recruitment events will be taking place at Sleaford fire station.
Anyone interested in finding out more about being a firefighter can book on to the session on Saturday 18 November, and take up the challenge with no pressure and lots of support.
Firefighting is a varied, rewarding and challenging role that involves far more than responding to fires. The ‘Have A Go’ days give people an insight into what firefighters do and the required strength, fitness and aptitude levels needed.
The sessions are suitable for people interested in becoming On Call firefighters or wholetime firefighters. As well as Sleaford, there are currently vacancies at a number of stations in the south of the county, such as Billingborough, Brant Broughton, Bourne, Donington, Holbeach, Long Sutton, Crowland, Spalding, Market Deeping, Corby Glen, Grantham and Stamford.
There are two sessions during the day – 9.30am and 12.30am and booking is essential. You must be 18 or over to take part.
