Footpath rebuild happening in Wragby

An overview of the diversion route for the affected roads

A complete reconstruction of the walkway will make a huge difference.

Karen Cassar, Assistant Director for Highways at LCC said: “The footway is reaching the end of its serviceable life, and we will carry out a full rebuild to improve this area for the people of Wragby.

“Five pedestrian tactile crossing points will also be installed whilst the work is undertaken to provide improved areas for pedestrians to cross the road.”

Dates and times

The works will begin on Monday, October 23 and has a planned end date of Thursday, December 21, subject to suitable weather.

Activity on site will take place between 07.30 and 17.30 each day, including some Saturday working.

Traffic management

Current programme of works as follows:

  • 24/7 road closure will run from Monday October 23 for approximately three weeks
  • Rolling 2/3-way traffic lights will be used from approximately Monday October 30 until Thursday December 21
  • Pedestrian walkway will be in place throughout the work

Due to the nature of the rebuild, there will be no access through the works site within the closure. However, access for properties will be maintained. The doctors’ surgery and Town Hall can be accessed via the mini-roundabout at the Wragby side of the closure point.

Diversion route

The diversion route will be via A158, B1225 Caistor High Street, A157 and vice versa.

Location of works

The works will be carried out on A157 Louth Road and the junction with Silver Street, Wragby

Karen Cassar added: “We are aware that these works will cause some disruption, so have arranged for an additional team to be on site during the first period of groundworks to accelerate the road closure phase and complete this as soon as possible

“Whilst these works will start in the school holidays, they will be ongoing during school term time. We understand that parents park at the Town Hall and walk to school, so we would ask them to take extra care and leave extra time for their journeys.

“I would like to thank all effected by this large improvement work for the area for their patience and understanding over the coming weeks.”
