Pedestrian Crossing refurb happening for Skegness

Pedestrian crossing

Wainfleet Road’s old-style equipment is getting a new lease of life

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “What is currently in place for the pedestrian crossing on Wainfleet Road has now come to the end of its operational life and requires replacing.

“Because of this, we’re seizing the opportunity to change the equipment from its old, pelican style crossing and update it to a modern puffin type.”

Dates and times

The work will begin on Monday October 16 and has a planned end date of Friday, November 3, subject to suitable weather.

Traffic management

The works will be carried using temporary traffic signals and crossings. There will be no diversion in place for the duration of the work.

Location of works

The works will be carried out on the Wainfleet Road near to the junction with Robin Hood Road

Cllr Davies added: “The new equipment will be extra low voltage which will reduce the crossing’s carbon footprint.

“The new puffin crossing will have near-sided red/green person indicators and on-crossing detection to help slower users cross the road more safely.”
