After an incredibly successful first year, grants of £1,000 are once again available for organisations to support numeracy development in Lincolnshire.
Employers and community groups in the county can apply to become a Lincolnshire Multiply Champion. Last year 48 Champions helped the council deliver 267 courses to 1260 learners across the county.
Multiply is a government-funded programme to help adults over 19 years old to improve maths skills, which are critical to personal wellbeing and business growth.
Free, flexible courses, personal tutoring and digital training are available, with countywide tutors ready and willing to support learners.
The grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis, and could be spent by employers on piloting innovative approaches to learning maths in the workplace, or dedicating staff time to encouraging numeracy progression. Community groups may come up with ways to support their wider community in taking up Multiply courses.
Executive councillor for adult learning at the county council, Cllr Patricia Bradwell, said:
“A Lincolnshire Multiply Champion is an organisation or group that recognises the importance of Maths, and its application at work, and in everyday life. The first year of the programme was a big success with more organisations signing up than originally planned!
“Our Champions came up with some fantastic ways of encouraging and supporting people to achieve better numeracy skills and I’m sure our next cohort of Champions will be just as impressive.”
The council is looking to award 60 grants to local businesses and community groups. Priority will be given to new applications that meet the minimum criteria; existing Multiply Champions may be able to apply at a later date. For further information and instructions on how to apply.
