A16 Marsh Lane Roundabout & Boston Active Travel September update

Lots of works was completed during August, and a number of traffic restrictions throughout September and October will allow for more work to be carried out.

What we achieved in August

  • Completed initial phase of A16/Marsh Lane Roundabout’s western widening, including drainage works; laying new kerbs and base layer of new road surfacing; installation of street lighting; and Openreach utility diversion
  • Rearranged traffic management across the roundabout to facilitate the start of eastern widening
  • Completed site clearance and break out works for eastern widening
  • Completed kerb installation and laying of base layer of new road surfacing for Wyberton Low Road shared use cycleway/footway
  • Continued construction of shared use cycleway/footway along Marsh Lane
  • Completed installation of traffic signals A16 and Marsh Lane/Wyberton Low Road crossroads
  • Laid new surfacing on north and south approaches to Marsh Lane/Wyberton Low Road crossroads

What’s happening in September

  • Begin carriageway reconstruction works at Marsh Lane
  • Continue A16 eastern widening works, including drainage and kerbing
  • Continue construction of  shared use cycleway/footway works along Marsh Lane
  • Complete Wyberton Low Road cycleway/footway construction

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • 24/7 lane closures on A16
  • 24/7 temporary traffic signals at Marsh Lane/Wyberton Low Road crossroads
  • 24/7 temporary traffic signals along Marsh Lane, east of crossroads

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

Road reconstruction works will be carried out over multiple weekends in September and October. During these works, the following traffic management will be in place: temporary traffic signals at A16/Marsh Lane roundabout; road closure of Wyberton Low Road at the Marsh Lane crossroads; and temporary traffic signals and HGV convoy system at Marsh Lane.

Traffic management will be in place from Friday evening to Monday morning (subject to suitable weather and other unforeseen circumstances).
