End of August sees a month of works to refurbish the well-used crossing.
Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways, said: “The current signal equipment has reached the end of its operational life and spare parts are becoming obsolete so we’re taking the initiative to refurbish this crossing.
“The new signal equipment will be extra low voltage which will reduce the carbon footprint and included in these £110,000 works will be further adjustments carried out to bring the pedestrian crossing up to current standards.”
Dates and times
The works will begin on August 29 and are scheduled to continue for approximately five weeks, subject to suitable weather.
Traffic Management
There will be a partial footpath closure during the works, cyclists to dismount whilst travelling through.
Diversion route
No diversion will be needed during the scheme as there will be lane closures only in place.
Location of works
The works will be carried out on the pedestrian crossing on Tritton Road (Valentines Road), Lincoln.
Karen added: “We will maintain foot access to properties and businesses at all times.
“There will also be a temporary crossing on site to allow the public to cross the road if needed.
“The works consist of replacing all traffic signal equipment at the pedestrian crossing. The pedestrian facilities will change from far side to nearside indicators ad the tactile paving will also be replaced.
“We are doing everything we can to minimise disruption caused by these works, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we complete this improvement scheme.”
