Ready, Set, Read: Summer Reading Challenge launches at Lincolnshire Libraries

Ready set read! Written on a pale blue background

This summer, children are being encouraged to keep their minds and bodies active over the summer break.

Themed around the power of play, sport, games and physical activity, the free Summer Reading Challenge is open to children aged between 4 and 11.

Free materials are available from libraries and via the challenge website that help children track their progress during the summer. Children will help a team of characters – brought to life by children’s author and illustrator Loretta Schauer – navigate a fictional obstacle course and track their reading as they go.

Children taking part in the challenge will receive prizes for every two books read and a certificate and medal for completing the challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge aims to keep imaginations moving over the school holiday. By participating in the challenge at their local library, children will have the opportunity to explore new reading material, develop skills, and discover new interests.

In Lincolnshire, children can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge at any of the 15 core libraries:

  • Boston
