Galliford Try has built a new access track for the amateur football clubs changing facilities.
Gino Salvatore, Liaison Manager for Galliford Try, said: "Giving something back to the local community and leaving a lasting legacy that goes beyond the life of the relief road project is really important to our local team.
“Having established contact with Great Ponton Parish Council, we were asked if we could provide an access track for the amateur football club’s changing facilities. In the past, the area around the changing facilities would flood and become a quagmire when there was bad weather.
“With support from one of our subcontractors, CR Civil Engineering Ltd, we were able to construct a brand-new stone access track and pathway leading up to and around the changing facilities.
“It’s been a privilege for us to help the community with this locally-important project.”
Ian Cruickshank, Chairman of Great Ponton Parish Council, said: "We are so very grateful and appreciative of Galliford Try’s kindness and commitment to providing a hard-standing area to the residents of Great Ponton, completely free of any charges.
"This area that Galliford Try has kindly provided and prepared for our village over on the football fields looks fantastic and has really enhanced the community field. We are now able to gain access to the football pavilion without getting bogged down in mud. As a bonus, it has also made the camping and caravan pitches near there so much more accessible and the area much more attractive.”
