A final series of public information events will be held during w/c 12th June, offering a chance to speak to the project team and find out more about the proposed relief road design.
The next set of events will take place from 2pm to 7pm on/at:
- Monday 12 June at Bentley Hotel (Newark Rd, LN6 9NH)
- Tuesday 13 June at Bracebridge Heath Pavilion (Entrance next to No. 67 Bath Road)
- Wednesday 14 June at Waddington Community Hub (High St, LN5 9RF)
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "This will be the final set of engagement events before our members make a final decision about whether to submit this alignment and route design for planning in the autumn, so we encourage anyone interested in the project to attend.
“During these drop-ins, our project team will be on-hand to answer any questions about the new road’s final design, including environmental mitigation measures; construction plans; and walking, cycling and horse riding routes.
“Following these information events, the team will be finalising all of the documents needed for the planning application. Our Highways and Transport Scrutiny Committee will then discuss these plans and the project generally in September ahead of Executive officially voting in October on whether to submit the application.
“This project would undoubtedly be a massive undertaking. Not only would it involve building a new dual carriageway linking the A46 Pennells Roundabout to the Lincoln Eastern Bypass, but also constructing three new roundabouts and a number of new bridges, including one at Station Road and one over the River Witham.
“However, once built, the North Hykeham Relief Road would create a full ring road around the city that would help reduce congestion on local roads and boost the local economy.
“All being well, we’re planning to start construction of the road towards the end of 2025.”
