Big city resurfacing programme happening in Lincoln

Resurfacing

Last week in May sees the start of extensive improvements beginning across eight locations.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: "We are delighted that these improvements works are going ahead.

“At a cost of almost £400,000 we are able to make good a series of roads in such a way that will immediately benefit travel around these parts of the city.”

Dates and times

All works will take place overnight except for Barrats Close which will be completed on day shifts.

Orchard Street: 25th May – 29th May

Minster Yard: 30th May – 31st May

Langworthgate / Greetwell Gate / Eastgate / St Leonards Lane: 1st June – 9th June

Barrats Close: 12th June (1 day)

Chapel Lane: 13th June – 15th June

The works will take place from 19.00 to 06.00 except for Barrats Close which will happen from 07.30 to 17.00.

Traffic management

There will be no on-street parking for the duration of the works. Resident’s access will be maintained although delays may be expected. Traffic management operatives will be available to assist with any queries and to ensure that residents are kept safe during these works.

For the Minster Yard scheme the one-way system will be suspended to allow residents access via Eastgate.

Diversion route

The diversion routes will be as follows:

Orchard Street: Southbound via West Parade / The Avenue / Newland. Northbound via Newland / The Avenue / Yarborough Road (to roundabout) / Yarborough Road / West Parade.

Minster Yard: Priory Gate / North gate / Church Lane / Bailgate / Eastgate / Minster Yard (one way suspended).

Eastgate / Greetwell Gate / Langworth Gate / St Leonards Lane: Wragby Road / Lee Road / Nettleham Road / Northgate.

Barratt’s Close: This is a cul-de-sac, so no diversion route is available.

Chapel Lane: Westgate / Burton Road / Rasen Lane / Newport / Bailgate.

Location of works

The works will be carried out on Orchard Street, Minster Yard, Langworth Gate, Greetwell Gate, Eastgate, St Leonards Lane, Barrats Close and Chapel Lane

Cllr Davies added: "Making these roads better is going to be a dramatic improvement for these areas of the city.

“We will get these works completed as quickly as possible, but there will be some unavoidable disruption whilst our crew go about the programme.

“I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding during the duration of these works.”
