Children and young people receiving benefits-related free school meals can enjoy a wide-range of exciting activities and a meal plus snacks for free this Easter.
Lincolnshire County Council has commissioned schools, sports providers, leisure centres, youth clubs, early years settings and kids’ clubs across the county to organise fun and exciting holiday clubs for primary and secondary-aged children.
Each club is unique and offers a wide variety of enriching activities, depending upon the venue. Examples of the activities on offer include sports and games, music, drama, arts and crafts, cooking, visits to places of interest and so much more. Families not eligible for a free place can pay for one at some clubs, subject to availability. With 137 clubs available across the county, there is lots of choice of activities and venues.
Cllr Mrs Patricia Bradwell OBE, executive member for children's services, said: "The holiday clubs provide children with a range of engaging activities, as well as free, healthy food, giving them an Easter to remember.
"Thousands of children have already taken part in our previous programmes, and the feedback from families has been fantastic. So, if your family is eligible, don't let your child miss out."
You can find further details on the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme and guidance on how to book your child a place at www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/school-pupil-support/holiday-activities-food-programme. You can also sign up for the HAF newsletter, to receive information on future sessions.
If a booking has been made, but your child is unable to attend, it is important that you contact the club at least 24 hours beforehand to let them know so that the place can be offered to another young person. Don’t forget that your child doesn’t need a packed lunch as a choice of lunches are available, as well as healthy snacks, which are provided free of charge.
The HAF programme is funded by the Department for Education.
