Ancaster’s re-surfacing works: ready to go

Resurfacing

Details and times for the Ermine Street rebuild are released.

Here are the exact working times, and diversion route, now in place for the extensive resurfacing works being undertaken on Ermine Street in Ancaster next month.

As was announced at the start of the year, the programme of work will rebuild the stretch of road and leave residents with an improved road surface.

The work schedule starts on March 23 and has an end date of April 4. However, it’s worth noting that this end date could be extended because of unforeseen circumstances.

The work to replace the current road surface is costing around £350,000 to complete.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for Highways said: “We are very happy to be getting underway with these works and the people of Ancaster will have the results in front of them soon.

“With this type of surfacing work there is always going to be disruption, especially so when we are having to rebuild the road underneath.

"Because of this we are going to be carrying out the rebuild through the night to keep the level of traffic upset to a minimum.

“With the diversion in place we will be able to concentrate on the job at hand and get this road to where it needs to be for all concerned. Whilst the works are on-going, I would like to extend my thanks to all for their patience.”

Dates and timeframes

The works will begin on March 23 and last for around two weeks, subject to suitable weather and conditions. This end date may be extended.

Traffic management

There will be an overnight road closure in place whilst the work is undertaken with the road fully closed to through traffic between the hours of 7pm to 6am.

Diversion route

A signed diversion via the B6403 / A17 / A15 and A153 will be in place. Residents access will be maintained but may be accompanied through the works to allow for safe passage.
