Experience Christmas the Victorian way at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life

Victorian Christmas MLL

Join us for our special Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day on Monday 19 December 2022

Open from 10am to 4pm, the Victorian Christmas event will have fun and games aplenty, including crafts and popular parlour games from the era.

You can also meet Nellie, the cook, who’ll be in the kitchen preparing for the Christmas feast. And Mr Black, the printer, will be printing festive cards for the season for you to take home.

The event costs just £3 per child and is free for adults. Simply pay on the door.

Steve Dunk, visitor experience manager at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, said:

“Much like the big day itself, our Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day has become somewhat of an annual tradition!

“In fact, a lot of the Christmas traditions that we still enjoy today were made popular in Britain during the Victorian era – including decorating a tree and Christmas dinner – so there’s a reason this period is so closely associated with the festive season.

“So come on in out of the cold and enjoy a warm, welcoming, traditional Victorian Christmas with us at the museum.”

The Museum of Lincolnshire Life is located on Burton Road in Lincoln and is open from Fridays to Tuesdays from 10am to 4pm (last entry at 3.45pm).

Over the festive period the museum will be open from 10am to 4pm on:

  • Monday 19 December (Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day),
  • Thursday 22 and Friday 23 December,
  • Wednesday 28, Thursday 29, Friday 30, and Saturday 31 December (New Year’s Eve),
