LCC’s road team are now able to get to the sinkhole site and they’re not hanging about with sorting out the road prior to the festive season.
With Anglian Water having completed its repairs to the company’s under-road asset, Lincolnshire County Council’s road repair team are now sweeping in to mend Enterprise Way, Pinchbeck.
The route was originally barriered off then traffic lights put up for safety reasons in June after a sinkhole appeared across the footpath and road itself. The road-rebuild repair will now involve a diversion route in place for the week-long works.
The works themselves are planned to start at 07.00 on Monday, December 5 with a planned end date of 20.00 on Friday, December 9. It is worth noting that the end date may be moved because of unforeseen circumstances that appear during the scheduled programme.
The diversion route will take in Spalding Road, Wardentree Lane and Benner Road. All access will be maintained for businesses during the planned five days of repairs.
Cllr Richard Davies, Executive member for highways said: “It is a relief that our team can now get on with the urgent job of repairing this road and returning the people in this area of Pinchbeck back to normality in time for Christmas.
“We are scheduling a week for this repair, and we will do everything possible to try to complete these works in that timeframe. The diversion that we will put in place is necessary for the safety of road users and the crew carrying out the work.
“With the nature of the job that’s needed to sort out the damage that happened to the road, the diversion couldn’t be avoided this time.
“I’d like to thank everyone affected by this ongoing saga for their patience. Now that we can get on with working on the road, we will endeavour to get things sorted out as quickly as possible.”
