The County Council has been highlighting the support available for Lincolnshire businesses who want to sell goods and services globally

Here, we learn about one county business which is taking advantage of that support.

Lincoln-based family business, The British Hamper Company, specialises in the worldwide delivery of luxury gift hampers. Set up in 2014, they promote artisan British food to a global audience. Exports are a significant part of the business with customers including expats, anglophiles and worldwide businesses. The USA is their largest market with international sales growing in Australia, the Far East, UAE, Canada and the EU.

Managing Director, James Tod, said: “All the food and drink in our hampers comes from small artisan British producers and we hand pack all of our luxury hampers, offering express delivery within the UK and over 40 countries worldwide.”

“We’ve had brilliant support over the years, from helping us expand into different markets, to assisting with our systems so we can process the complex paperwork that’s required for food produce.”

After the UK left the customs union, James accessed further support from the Department of International Trade and made a successful application for funding towards setting up a third-party fulfilment centre in the Netherlands.

James said: “The application for funding was a very efficient process and having our International Trade Adviser to help us through was very useful.”
