Grantham Southern Relief Road October update

What we achieved in October and what we have planned for November.

What we achieved in October

Phase Three

  • West side of site – backfilled Pier 3 excavations / installed Pier 1 / began surcharge works to the west embankment
  • East side of site – continued Whalebone Lane surfacing / installed narrow filter drain and started construction of grass channel near Whalebone Lane / excavated crop piles / began concreting works to Pier 4 / install liner to Pond A / began planting works at Somerby Hill Roundabout

What's happening in November

Phase Two

  • Carry out final street light earthing, testing and commissioning on the A1

Phase Three

  • West side of site – install Pier 2 and Pier 3 / install liner to Pond B
  • East side of side – continue construction of grass channel at Whalebone Lane / continue Pier 4 concreting works / begin laying sub-base and installing kerbing and gullies to development roundabout / divert quarry traffic from old Whalebone Lane to the new road / complete planting works at Somerby Hill Roundabout

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Lane Restrictions Around the B1174 Roundabout to facilitate the construction of the haul route and access into site
  • Whalebone Lane closed
  • Lane restrictions around Somerby Hill Roundabout

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Overnight A1 northbound lane 1 closure; Tuesday 15 November for up to four evenings, 8pm to 6am
  • Overnight A1 southbound lane 1 closure; Monday 21 November for up to five evenings, 8pm to 6am
